BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR

Blood pressure control for Nigerian patients - Team project

This project has been about the development of a product and application to provide doctors and patients in Nigeria with the necessary technology to effectively manage hypertension.

The concept enabled patients to measure their blood pressure at home with a device and application and share the results with a physician via the same application.

CONCEPT

CREATE

Patients are supported to measure their blood pressure accurately with the redesigned cuff. Different paper and fabric mock-ups are created to find out the most desirable and accurate cuff.

The cuff is connected to the application which provides education for hypertension and treatment with patients.

DEVICE PROPOSAL

Based on the knowledge gained in Nigeria, the final design and recommendations were Illustrated. This final design gives suggestions for the first steps towards the product realisation.

The wishes according to the users of the field research were combined into this final design. The device uses the oscillometric measurement technique with a preformed upper arm cuff. The curved design indicates the position of the cuff. The wrap can be tied firmly through the traditional and familiar flap by the users.
